Play is under way at the U.S. Open. We'll have updates throughout the day, and you can keep track of the leader board by clicking here.

UPDATE at 11:55: Mickelson's long birdie putt on No. 12 (he started on the back 9) comes up inches short. He taps in to remain 1-under and 1-back of the leaders.

UPDATE at 11:34: Phil Mickelson hits his approach on his second hole (No. 11) a few feet from the cup and taps in for a birdie. He is now -1 after two holes. That puts him in a tie for second, a stroke behind Soren Hansen. Amateur Drew Weaver and Graham McDowell are the leaders in the clubhouse after shooting one-under, 69s.

UPDATE at 10:58: Tiger misses his par putt on No. 18 and finishes at +4. He was even heading into No. 15 but stumbled a bit getting into the clubhouse.

UPDATE at 10:54: The current leaders are amateur Ben Martin (-2) followed at -1 by amateur Drew Weaver plus Graham McDowell and Johan Edfors. Tiger is waiting to chip onto No. 18. He lies three.

UPDATE at 10:51: Woods stumbled a bit in the late going. He was +3 going into 18. Then on the final hole he hit his tee shot into the rough. He is now waiting to chip on the green.

UPDATE at 10:14: Tiger Woods had a chip that rolled back and then missed a short putt to take a double on 15. He is now 2 over. Amateurs Ben Martin and Drew Weaver are 1-2 on the leaderboard. Twitters legendary golf writer Dan Jenkins: Tiger Woods just made his second double bogey of the first round. Golf is dead.

UPDATE at 8:31: Woods nearly holed his approach shot at 11, and then sank a short birdie putt to go 1-over. Only Jeff Brehaut, at 1-under, is beating par at the moment.

UPDATE at 7:58: Tiger Woods just missed a 12-foot birdie putt on the ninth hole. But he makes the putt for par and remains 2-over. The greens are extremely slow, and a lot of putts are coming up way short.
