Andy Murray kept British tennis hopes alive as he powered into his first Wimbledon semi-final in the centre court heat.
The 22-year-old Scot beat former world number one Juan Carlos Ferrero in straight sets 7-5 6-3 6-2.
He said: "To get to the semi-finals for the first time is nice and I'll try my best to go further."
Murray said he made "quite a few" mistakes early in the match but started to settle down after the first set.
Asked about the semi-final, he said: "I'm going to have a tough match but I feel like I can win if I play well."
Actress Kate Winslet and her husband, the film director Sam Mendes, were watching from the royal box.
Old school friend Katharine Brown, the current Miss Scotland, was also cheering him on.
Murraymania had been building since his nail-biting encounter against Swiss 19th seed Stanislas Wawrinka on Monday night.
But the epic match seemed to have taken no toll on the British number one.
Murray, from Dunblane, cruised to victory in one hour 41 minutes against the Spaniard, ranked 70th in the world.
